I.M hosts KBS Cool FM’s “MONSTA X I.M’s Kiss the Radio“, which airs daily from 10 PM to midnight. Coincidentally, President Yoon Suk-yeol held an unscheduled emergency press conference on December 3 at 10:23 PM, during which he declared martial law at 10:50 PM.

I.M relayed the breaking news live on air, stating, “Breaking news: President Yoon Suk-yeol has declared martial law tonight.” His announcement was broadcast directly to listeners, drawing immediate attention.

The situation garnered even more interest when it was highlighted that half of MONSTA X’s members—Minhyuk, Kihyun, Joohoney and Hyungwon—are currently serving in the military. Active-duty soldiers were notified of service extensions following the martial law declaration, adding to the public’s sympathy.

Netizens reacted with surprise and disbelief, commenting, “Never thought I’d hear martial law updates from an idol“, “This must feel surreal” and “Half of his group members are in the military right now.”

The martial law announcement came as President Yoon stated the need to “eradicate pro-North forces and safeguard the free constitutional order”.

However, just three hours after the declaration, the Korean National Assembly passed a resolution demanding the termination of martial law with unanimous approval from all 190 members present.

In compliance with Article 77, Clause 5 of the Constitution, which mandates that the president must lift martial law upon such a request from a majority of the National Assembly, President Yoon rescinded the declaration six hours after the announcement.
